NERO launching-/test team is involved in and committed to its mission and has a thorough knowledge and a long and safe tracking record
for its launching possibilities and static testing of rocket engines, the NERO is designated as co-user of the Education and Training fire support Centre (Opleidings- en TrainingsCentrum VuurSteun (OTCVust)), Ministry of Defence
laws and regulations
NERO holds several recognitions at the "Explosives for Civil Use Act" (Wet Explosieven voor Civiel Gebruik (WECG)) both with respect to:
its members (Articles 17, 19 letter a, c and d)
executives of NERO, an executive WECG (Articles 17, 19 letter b, c and d)
NERO also owns an transportation approval for materials that are covered by the WECG law and should be transported to OTCVust (Article 11)
NERO meets the restrictions of competence as pointed out in the "working decision decree" (arbeidsomstandighedenbesluit (Article 4.9, cipher. 2 and 3))
at least twice a year, the NERO organize a launching-/test day. At that day it is possible to launch rockets and caring out static testing's of rocket engines
to enable a launching-/test day the NERO is equipped with a modern and efficient infrastructure, such as:
rocket engine test stand
launch ramp with accessories
launch ramp calibration unit
metro set
electrical ignition unit (300 m)
electrical power generator
commando tent
field radio communication sets
and etc.
as a fellow user of OTCVust the NERO has the disposal over a magnificent launch-/test site:
the width of the launch site ranges from about 2.6 to 3.8 km
depth of the launch site is approximately 6.9 km
the usable launching altitude is op to 2 km. Possibly, with the consent of the commander form OTCVust, this can be in special cases expand up to a altitude of 5 km
spectators are standing during launchings and rocket engine tests at the observation hill and looking from there downwards at the lower positioned launch ramp and/or rocket engine test bench, this situation creates a spacious and magnificent view during rocket launches and static rocket engine tests (the best spotting place in Europe)
